A lucky lottery player in Rochester is holding a winning Powerball ticket worth thousands of dollars after a recent drawing.
According to the New York State Lottery, a third-prize Powerball ticket valued at $50,000 was purchased at the Wegmans location on Chili Avenue in Rochester, New York.
Lottery officials have not released details about the winner, and it remains unclear whether the prize has already been claimed.
The winning ticket adds to a growing list of recent lottery successes in the Rochester area. Earlier this year, another fortunate player bought a TAKE 5 ticket at a 7-Eleven store on East Main Street. That ticket earned a prize of more than $10,000.
The New York Lottery regularly reminds winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and store them safely until they are claimed.
Powerball drawings are held multiple times each week and offer players the opportunity to win large cash prizes ranging from smaller tier payouts to multi-million-dollar jackpots.
