May 2026 Social Security Wednesday Payment Dates
Most Social Security recipients receive benefits on one of three Wednesdays each month. This applies to retirement, disability and survivor benefits.
For May 2026, the payment dates are based on the beneficiary’s birth date:
- Born from the 1st to the 10th: Payment on Wednesday, May 13
- Born from the 11th to the 20th: Payment on Wednesday, May 20
- Born from the 21st to the 31st: Payment on Wednesday, May 27
This means many beneficiaries must wait until the middle or later part of May to receive their monthly payment. The May schedule also creates one of the longer waits of the year before the three-Wednesday payment cycle begins.
